Frequently asked questions

If you are planning a trip to Princess Marina House, hopefully these facts will answer any questions you have. If not, don’t hesitate to get in touch and one of team will be happy to help.

What age group do you serve?

There is no upper age limit. The lower age limit is 18.

Are you a hotel or a nursing home?

Princess Marina House is registered to provide personal care. Guests do not have constant one-to-one care, but our staff are on call 24 hours a day. Princess Marina House strives to give you a relaxing break in a holiday-type environment rather than simply being a care home.

Do I need insurance?

Yes. To ensure you have protection against the majority of incidents that can spoil or affect a holiday, all fully or partially self-funding guests and carers should take out travel insurance.

What time should I arrive and depart?

You can check in from 2pm onwards. You must vacate your room by 10am on the day of your departure. Early arrival or late departure may be possible by prior arrangement.

What will happen at check-in?

When you arrive at Princess Marina House, you will be asked permission to take your photograph. This will be stored with your medical records in order to help us ensure that we provide you with the care you need. 

We will then take you to your room and check the details of your care with you. The staff will also carry out a number of risk assessments with you to ensure that you can safely take part in the planned activities at Princess Marina House.

What do I do about my medication?

Medication can only be dispensed at Princess Marina House if it is in the original packaging with correct typewritten or printed labelling. This must include the guest’s name, substance, strength and frequency of medication.

It must also correspond with dose and administration times in the medical certificate.  You must bring a sufficient supply to cover the period of your stay. Prescribed medication cannot be altered in any way, for example, by crushing.

Are there laundry facilities?

Yes, there are facilities for doing laundry. There is a free laundrette and an in-house laundry service should you need assistance.

What’s included in the price of my short break?

The following items are included in the price of your stay:

  • All meals: breakfast, lunch, including packed lunches for excursions, and a three-course evening meal, including tea, coffee and squash. Alcoholic drinks are available for purchase.
  • Towels and linen
  • All activities, including evening entertainment
  • Excursions to local places of interest
  • Personal care
  • Wheelchairs and scooters
  • Entrance fees on excursions

What’s not included in the price of my short break?

The following are not included in the cost of your stay:

  • Travel insurance; all fully or partially self-funding guests and carers should have travel insurance
  • Transport to and from Princess Marina House
  • Any extra food or drink purchased on excursions
  • Drinks from the bar
  • External services, such as hairdressing not supplied by Princess Marina House staff
  • Newspapers

Is smoking permitted?

Smoking is not permitted in the buildings or vehicles of Princess Marina House and is only allowed in designated areas on the grounds. Please note that staff or volunteers will not help guests’ with their smoking needs.

What happens if I lose or damage my property?

Princess Marina House accepts no responsibility for lost or damaged property.
