Air Marshal Sir Robert Wright KBE AFC FRAeS FCMI

Sir Robert WrightAir Marshal Sir Robert Wright was commissioned into the RAF in 1966.

After a distinguished career as a jet fighter pilot, he served in a series of policy appointments, culminating with over three years as UK Military Representative to NATO and the EU.

Sir Rob joined the RAF Benevolent Fund as Controller in January 2007.

 

Director of Welfare and Policy

Air Commodore Paul Hughesdon

Paul HughesdonAir Commodore Paul Hughesdon served in the RAF for 26 years. He provided personnel support to the frontline throughout that time, culminating in commanding RAF Uxbridge.

His last post was in charge of personnel policy across the RAF. He joined the RAF Benevolent Fund in June 2009.

Director Marketing and Communications

Dean Benton
 
Dean BentonDean Benton joined the Civil Service in 1981 and worked for a number of government agencies before leaving to join the Birmingham Education Business Partnership in 1995 as Head of Marketing.

In 1997 he accepted the post of Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications with the largest UK children’s charity, NCH.

Dean joined the RAFBF in January 2005 as Director of Marketing and Communications.

Dean is a member both of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Institute of Directors from where he obtained his professional qualifications.

Chief of Staff

Mike Neville
 
Mike NevilleGroup Captain Mike Neville served in the RAF for 26 years and enjoyed a varied career that centred on the C130 Hercules, operations and the Permanent Joint Headquarters at Northwood.

The pinnacle of his career was command of RAF Lyneham. Mike joined the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund in March 2012.

Director Finance and IT

Nick Waring
 
Nick WaringNick Waring started his career at KPMG Accountants where he obtained his professional qualifications as a Chartered Accountant.

After a brief period in the NHS, Nick moved to Kenya in 1998 and worked in a rural 200-bed tertiary care hospital as Director of Finance. 

Nick returned to the UK in 2002 to work at Christian Aid and, after spending three and a half years as Head of Finance, he joined the Fund in June 2007.
