Service charities

  • Aircrew Association
    The Aircrew Association exists to foster comradeship amongst those who, having been awarded an official flying badge, have qualified to operate military aircraft and are serving, or have served, as military aircrew in the armed forces of those nations allied to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
  • Armed Forces Art Society

    The official art society of Britain's Armed Forces. It demonstrates the compatibility of the profession of arms and the pursuit of the arts by mounting an annual exhibition in London.

  • Armed Forces Memorial Appeal

    The Appeal's task is to provide a National Monument of beauty, meaning and substance, to act as a lasting Memorial to the men and women of the United Kingdom Armed Forces who have lost their lives while on duty or as a result of terrorism since the Second World War.

  • Battle of Britain Historical Society

    In the summer of 1940, 2,944 pilots took part in an historic battle against the German Luftwaffe that was to become the only battle ever to be fought entirely in the air.

  • Battle of Britain London Monument

    The Battle of Britain Monument in London commemorates those people who took part in this vital battle of the Second World War. It is open to the public having been unveiled by the Prince of Wales on 18 September 2005. The website provides information about the battle, the airmen who took part, the location and design of the Monument and the history of the whole project.

  • BEWSA (British ex-Services Wheelchair Sports Association)

    BEWSA was formed in September 1987 after a small group of disabled ex-service men and women were invited to fly to the United States of America to participate in the Paralysed Veterans of America (PVA) National Veterans Wheelchair Games.

  • BLESMA (British Limbless Ex-Service Men's Association)

    BLESMA is an association for ex-Service men and women that have lost one or more limbs as a result of in World War II, Korea, Suez, Aden, The Falklands, The Gulf, Northern Ireland and in support of the United Nations. BLESMA also continues to care for some 2000 Widows.

  • Combat Stress

    This ex-Services mental welfare society is the only charity dedicated to giving care, comfort and reassurance, backed by skilled clinical support, to men and women of all ranks and all Services suffering from varying degrees of mental illness as a result of traumatic battle experiences.

  • Confederation of British Service & Ex-Service Organisations

    COBSEO is established to represent, promote and further the interests of Service and ex-Service men and women of all ranks, and of their spouses and dependants by all practical, legal and proper means.

  • Falklands Veterans Foundation

    The first UK based charity for Falklands Veterans and their Families and is committed to providing a network of support both financially and through support work for all Veterans and their Families.

  • Forces Children’s Trust

    The Forces Children’s Trust is a charity devoted to helping dependant children that have lost a parent whilst serving with the Armed Forces.

  • Gwennili Trust - Sailing for the Disabled

    The objects of the Gwennili Trust are: The relief of the physically or mentally disabled - in particular ex servicemen and women - young persons and those in necessitous circumstances by the provision of nautical, recreational and educational facilities on specially chartered yachts, or any similar vessel and training facility.

  • Haig Homes

    Haig Homes is the leading UK provider of rental housing for ex-Service people. Haig Homes has over 1,300 properties situated on small well managed estates ranging in size from about six houses up to the largest estate in Morden of over 270 homes. The properties, a mix of family-sized houses, maisonettes and flats, are spread throughout the United Kingdom in 47 different local authorities. The properties are for rental only.

  • "Johnnie" Johnson Housing Trust

    "Johnnie" Johnson Housing Trust is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing homes and services that people value. We currently provide over 4,300 homes for the widest possible cross section of the community including general needs housing, retirement housing, housing for the less able, rural housing, special needs housing and shared ownership.

  • Leonard Cheshire Disability

    The leading charity provider of services for disabled people in the UK, operating in 55 countries across the world.

  • National Memorial Arboretum

    Set in the pleasant countryside of Staffordshire, between the towns of Lichfield and Burton-upon-Trent, the Arboretum provides a focus for remembrance for those who have lost their lives or suffered in the service of their country. The location is also a unique wildlife habitat, bordered on one side by the banks of the River Tame.

  • The National Service (Royal Air Force) Association
    The NS(RAF)A was formed in 2002 by ex RAF National Servicemen who are concerned that the era when National Service was common to all is being forgotten.

  • Not Forgotten Association

    There are thousands of disabled ex-servicemen and women in this country. They have been injured in conflicts from 1914 to the present day. The "Not Forgotten" Association is able to give them some of the "extras" which most of us take for granted, something to look forward to that makes life worth living.

  • Palace Barracks Memorial Garden

    A quiet corner of a Holywood Army base has become a poignant place of pilgrimage for the bereaved families of the security force personnel killed in the Troubles and other conflicts.

  • Poppy Scotland

  • The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home (QAHH)

    The Queen Alexandra Hospital Home (QAHH) is a national charity caring for physically disabled ex-Servicemen and women from across the UK, and their dependents. QAHH has specialist experience in the care and rehabilitation of ex-Service personnel with complex medical conditions, degenerative neurological conditions and Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). Their aim is to help residents of all ages to live as independently and actively as possible, in an environment they can think of as their home.

  • RAFA

    The Royal Air Forces Association is a membership organisation of current and past members of the RAF and those with an interest in aviation. It supports serving and retired members of the RAF and their dependants, from WWII veterans to those involved in the Falklands, Bosnia and the Gulf. Comradeship is provided through its 500+ branches and its network of Honorary Welfare Officers provide advice and support to those in need. The three care homes, funded jointly with the RAF Benevolent Fund, provide respite care for those with medical or welfare needs and it also has a long term residential care home at Sussexdown House in West Sussex.

  • RAFDDHT (RAF and Dependants Disabled Holiday Trust)

    The Trust makes it possible for serving and ex-RAF personnel, or members of their families and dependants, who are severely disabled, to take holidays at home or overseas on equal terms with able-bodied people.

  • Royal Air Force Charitable Trust

    The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust is an independent charity and has as its objectives the promotion of recruiting and efficiency in the Royal Air Force as well as supporting RAF charitable work.

  • Royal British Legion

    The RBL aims to safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who are serving or who have served in the Armed Forces. Currently, nearly 11 million people are eligible for their support and they receive around 300,000 calls for help every year.

  • Royal Star & Garter Homes

    The Royal Star & Garter Charity provides quality nursing and therapeutic care to ex-Service men and women through its two homes, in Richmond and Solihull. Promoting independence and enjoyment of an active lifestyle has always been a priority for the charity, ensuring individuals are supported in living life to the full.

  • SSAFA Forces Help

    The national charity helping serving and ex-Service men, women and their families, in need. The range of services SSAFA Forces Help provides include housing, financial aid and advice, friendship visits and professional health care and social work services.

  • St Dunstan's

    A national UK charity established in 1915 by Sir Arthur Pearson to provide essential training and rehabilitation to blind ex-service men and women. From army cadets to Gulf, Falklands, and Second World War veterans, St Dunstan's will help anyone who has served in the forces and who is now blinded due to war, age, accident or illness.

  • Veterans Scotland

    Veterans Scotland's objective is to relieve suffering hardship and distress and to promote the relief of need and to promote education among men or women who have at any time served with any branch of the naval, military and air forces of the Crown or her allies.
