If you are a home owner in financial difficulty, you may find yourself unable to afford the cost of repairs to your house.
You can ask us for help in this situation.
- The help we give for minor repairs is usually in the form of a grant.
- The help we give for more major work is usually in the form of a low interest loan, secured on your property. Sometimes it is not possible to secure a loan on your property, in which case we may be able to find another way to help.
We give priority to those who need critical repairs, such as to a leaking roof or a broken boiler. We also give priority to those on a low income with little or no savings. However, we always consider your individual situation.
We can also advise you of local authority home improvement grants and, where these are not available, we work with local Home Improvement Agencies.
Warm Front
If you own your own home or rent it from a private landlord, you may be eligible for a Warm Front grant of up to £2,700 (or £4,000 if oil central heating is involved) for improvements to the heating in your house.
Warm Front is a government sponsored scheme to fund installation and upgrade of central heating. We may be able to assist with an additional grant, if the grant from Warm Front does not cover your costs in full.
