Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund

The RAF Benevolent Fund is here to provide support to all members of the RAF family in need. If you have ever served in the Royal Air Force, or you are an immediate dependant of someone who served, then you may be eligible for assistance.

Grants, loans and advice are available for a broad range of help, including: mobility aids and specialist equipment for the sick and disabled; help with housing and accommodation; assistance in accessing and funding care; as well as individual grants to relieve specific financial need.

Veterans Day 2008

  • On Friday 27th June, Benevolent Fund staff took part in Veterans Day Events the length and breadth of the country, including London’s Trafalgar Square event, where thousands paid tribute to veterans while enjoying a full line-up of entertainment. Aldergrove Puma Pilot Aims to Raise Funds in Memory of Lost Comrades

  • Flying Officer Rob Town, 24, will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime on July 13th, when he sets out on the Austrian Iron Man challenge in a bid to raise £2,000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund. The event, which includes a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run, is billed as one of the most testing triathlons in the world.

Reaching Out Campaign 2008

The Fund helps Joanna make a home for herself

  • Flight Lieutenant Joanna Martin (46) was looking forward to being mobilised for a second tour of Iraq when, just a few days after receiving call up papers, she suffered a life-changing accident. During routine training at Barry Budden Training Camp, near Dundee, Joanna fell 20 feet from a cargo net. She suffered a T8 complete spinal injury and is now paralyzed from the chest downwards.
