Ex-Service Personnel
Former RAF and WRAF personnel, their widows, widowers and dependants seeking help should use the RAFBF's Supportline on:
0800-169-2942
Calls to the Supportline are answered by trained staff. Armed with an overview of the Fund's work and principal welfare policies they deal with each of these vital 'first contacts' with sensitivity and compassion.
If possible when you phone please collect together as many of the personal details about the person who was in the RAF as possible
or in writing to the Fund at:
Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund
67, Portland Place,
London W1B 1AR.
or by completing the on-line application form.
Alternatively, applications can be submitted through, or originated by, organisations such as the Royal Air Forces Association, SSAFA Forces Help, the War Pensions Welfare Service of the Department of Social Security or the Citizen's Advice Bureau.
In almost every case a Fund Helper (or other representative) will be asked to visit the applicant to obtain first-hand information, so that a report with recommendations can be submitted for consideration by the Fund.
Serving RAF
Applicants who are still serving should, in the first instance speak to their Flight Commander or Chief Clerk who will, where appropriate, arrange for an application for assistance to be forwarded to the Fund with the Station Commander's recommendations.
