7/1/2008 £ 3000 The Royal Association for Disability and Rehabilitation (RADAR)
RADAR, established in 1977, is the umbrella association, staffed by disabled people, for around 600 members including over 300 member charities dealing with all forms of disability and rehabilitation. It seeks to improve the lot of the disabled by a wide variety of means, ranging from lobbying parliament, local authorities and service providers through to the provision of advice and information to organisations and individuals alike. RADAR's mission is "to promote change by empowering disabled people to achieve their rights and expectations, and by influencing the way that disabled people are viewed as members of society".

7/1/2008 £ 7500 Moray Citizens' Advice Bureau
Moray CAB provides a free, confidential advice/information service to the Moray Community, which includes about 5,000 Service personnel and 7,500 dependants from RAF Kinloss and RAF Lossiemouth. An outreach service is provided at Keith, Dufftown, Buckie and RAF Kinloss, as well as in Lossiemouth village.

6/17/2008 £ 30000 Leonard Cheshire Disability - Agate House, Ampthill
The Leonard Cheshire Foundation supports the disabled throughout the UK. Some 85% are supported in their own homes while others are cared for in 140 registered care homes. Since 1955, The Leonard Cheshire Bedfordshire Home has provided residential care with nursing for disabled adults in that area. Agate House was built in 1977.

6/17/2008 £ 45000 The Sue Ryder Foundation - Nettlebed
The Sue Ryder Home at Nettlebed is a Palliative Care unit specialising in pain relief, symptom control and respite care; most patients are initially admitted for symptom control and respite care but, on average, 20% of the beds are occupied by people requiring terminal care. They also do a lot of good work through their Day Care Centre which is open 2 days a week.

Rainbows Children's Hospice supports young people and their families where children have a life limiting illness. It aims to provide flexible support both in the community and in the Hospice, to offer relaxation, rest and holistic care which meets physical, emotional, psychological, spiritual and cultural needs.

This hospice provides the full range of palliative and terminal care for a large area of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

6/3/2008 £ 6000 Hart District Limited Citizens Advice Bureau
Hart District Ltd CAB was formed from a merger of the Fleet and Yateley Bureaux in Apr 06. It operates a monthly Outreach service at RAF Odiham as part of the enlarged communities now served. The accounts reflect the combined financial statements for the Fleet and Yateley bureau for a 13 month period ended on 28 Apr 06.

5/20/2008 £ 175000 Marie Curie Cancer Care
The Marie Curie organisation is a comprehensive cancer care charity which was established in 1948, and celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2008. It provides specialist care for terminally ill people. This covers both in-patient service through its 10 Centres throughout the UK and its Nursing Service. The latter includes work at the Centres and caring for patients at home. It also has a Research and Education role.

4/28/2008 £ 1500 Gwynedd & De Ynys Môn Citizens Advice Bureau
CABs give free confidential and impartial advice on any subject or problem. Much of their work is connected with debt management. The Bangor branch also holds the Legal Aid Franchise which provides an accessible and quality assured Legal Aid service to clients.

4/28/2008 £ 2800 South Bucks Hospice
The South Bucks Hospice (SBH), established over 10 years ago, supports individuals who have life threatening illnesses. It provides day care and a Lymphoedema Clinic to the patients and also offers emotional and practical support to the patient's family and to his or her carers. There are no in-patients.

4/28/2008 £ 2700 Community Housing and Therapy (CHT)
CHT is a charitable organisation dedicated to securing safe accommodation and professional care in London in a structured environment for those suffering from mental ill-health and the homeless. In conjunction with the Central and Cecil Housing Trust and the Homeless Trust it has instituted a project known as Home Base which provides housing and support for homeless or potentially homeless ex-Service people, so that they may eventually find permanent homes and employment. Clients are confronted by problems such as inadequate life skills, institutionalisation, mental health problems, post traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, unemployment, lack of adequate support networks and sometimes a background of convictions for crime. With such backgrounds, there are invariably relationship problems, too.

4/28/2008 £ 5000 Counsel & Care for the Elderly
Counsel and Care offers an advice and information service designed to help older people, their carers and families get the best care. It also uses its experience and knowledge to influence future policies, services and funding of care. Most of its beneficiaries are aged between 70 and 90 years and include those on low incomes, those living in isolation, war veterans, war widows and older lone women undergoing hardship. A key service is the publication of numerous factsheets. One of the most popular of these is about care funding. Some financial support is also available to individuals through grants obtained from other charities. Overall, this charity claims to reach over 100,000 people through its advice service.
