17 December 2008 - RAF Odiham team ride to Timbuktu for charity
A team of four Service personnel from RAF Odiham set out on an incredible journey on 20 December, as they take on the Plymouth to Timbuktu Challenge, driving a Land Rover and ambulance across the face of Africa, in aid of the RAF Benevolent Fund and Help for Heroes charities.

Eleven-year-old Freddie Kempton, from Drumoig, raised over £120 for the RAF Benevolent Fund by dressing up as an RAF officer for Halloween and going door to door asking for 'trick or treat' donations.

What do Bernie Ecclestone, Gordon Brown and Maureen Lipman have in common? They've all contributed thoughts and ideas to a new book on what it takes to be successful. "Great Britons on Success" has been edited by businessman and author Alan Coppin, who began compiling his book after being inspired by a tour of RAF bases around the UK. He was so impressed by the professionalism, dedication and bravery of the RAF, that he decided to donate all his royalties to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
17 October 2008 - London Livery Companies are Guests of Honour at RAF Benevolent Fund's Imperial War Museum Reception (Microsoft Word 64kb)
A special reception was held on 14 October for the Masters and Clerks of the London Livery companies, hosted by the RAF Benevolent Fund at the Imperial War Museum. The event was a chance to introduce guests to the important work of the RAF Benevolent Fund among the serving and retired RAF community.
14 October 2008 - Band of the RAF College thank Stirling schoolchildren with special concert (Microsoft Word 64kb)
The Band of the Royal Air Force College played a special thank-you concert on Thursday 9 October at the MacRobert Arts Centre, Stirling University to celebrate the conclusion of two days of free music tutorials it ran for local schools. In the process the band raised £855 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF's principal grant-making charity.
14 October 2008 - Honington RAF quartet take on 400km Abu Dhabi Challenge in aid of RAF Benevolent Fund (Microsoft Word 64kb)
A team of serving RAF Physical Training Instructors, based at RAF Honington, are tackling the six day Abu Dhabi Adventure Race this December, to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund. The event is one of the biggest adventure races world-wide and includes trail running, mountain biking, camel trekking, rock climbing and sea kayaking.
24 September 2008 - RAF Benevolent Fund helps St Barnabas House with £47,000 grant (Microsoft Word 30kb)
After a survey of the number of patients at St Barnabas House hospice who had served in the RAF during their lives, it was revealed that the hospice supported 32 ex RAF service personnel during the year to April 2008. The RAF Benevolent Fund was able to award a grant of £12,000 to cover the costs of care and an additional £35,000 to go directly to the St Barnabas 'Building a Dream' appeal for their new hospice.
19 September 2008 - Hampton Court Banquet celebrates 90th anniversary of RAF (Microsoft Word 76kb)
On 18 September, the RAF Benevolent Fund hosted a gala banquet for some 240 guests at Hampton Court Palace. Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy, Chief of the Air Staff, was guest of honour and was joined by Lord Trenchard (Chairman of the RAF Benevolent Fund), Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire and an impressive range of guests.

The roar of Tornado fighter Jets was replaced by the roar of more than 100 Rally Cars at RAF Marham over the weekend of 13-14 September. The Richard Burns Memorial Rally was a special event in aid of the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) and the Richard Burns Foundation, and raised an astonishing £18, 373 for the RAFBF alone!

West Sussex Golfers came together at a charity Golf Day on June 6, organized to raise funds for Princess Marina House, The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund’s respite care home in Rustington. The event, held at Littlehampton Golf Club and sponsored by BAE Systems, raised over £3000 and was won by a team from local company Littlehampton Welding Ltd.

Flying Officer Rob Town, 24, will be taking on the challenge of a lifetime on July 13th, when he sets out on the Austrian Iron Man challenge in a bid to raise £2,000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund. The event, which includes a 2.4 mile swim, an 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run, is billed as one of the most testing triathlons in the world.

A serviceman from Watchfield was celebrating today after raising over £1,500 for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. Wing Commander Jules Eaton raised the money by completing a sponsored trek across the highlands of Scotland – The Great Outdoors Challenge.

Generations of RAF came together at Princess Marina House, The RAF Benevolent Fund respite care home in Rustington, on Friday 30 May. The residents of the home, all serving and retired RAF personnel, thanked local representatives of the Air Training Corps for the £50,000 their organisation has contributed towards the "Princess Marina House Appeal".

On Wednesday 13 February, representatives of the Guinea Pig Club presented Sir Rob Wright, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund, with a £50,000 donation. Among attendees were retiring Guinea Pig Club Chairman Jack Toper, new Club Chairman Sam Gallop and Vanora Marland, the daughter of the renowned plastic surgeon Sir Archibald McIndoe.
