The half day's pay scheme is a "Give As You Earn" scheme through which your donation is automatically calculated on your pay cheque. It amounts to 64% of one day's gross pay divided by twelve and paid monthly. The scheme currently contributes about £1.8m a year to the RAF Benevolent Fund's work.
The scheme is for serving RAF personnel - over 75% of personnel are already contributing. All hope never to need our assistance themselves, but want to know their comrades have a lifeline. But contributions do more than allow us to provide welfare support to those members of the RAF family experiencing difficulty. We also work to improve the standard of living for those serving. For example, we have built childcare centres on 26 stations, we offer free relationship counselling sessions and we are funding youth projects to keep station children and young people stimulated and engaged.
If you are currently serving and are not part of the scheme already, but would like to join, please complete the following form:
If you are no longer serving but would like to maintain your contributions from your pay cheque in your new employment, you need to ask your Payroll department if it is part of a scheme such as "Give As You Earn", run by Charities Aid Foundation, or "Work Aid", run by Charities Trust.
You can choose the amount you want to donate, and it is deducted on a monthly basis, before tax.
