The RAF Benevolent Fund is using our series of specially commissioned blogs to commemorate both the 70th anniversary of Operation Chastise – the daring Dambusters raid of May 16/17, 1943.
Fifty-three men were killed on the night of May 16/17, a small but significant part of a total number of 55,573 from Bomber Command who died during the Second World War.
Each of the blogs is dedicated to one of these 53 men. The blogs feature a variety of exclusive material including video interviews and information and images from newly published sources.
They cover many different aspects of the raid across different categories including key people, technical details, crew stories and special features on those who failed to return.
