Frequently asked questions about recycling

We have put together some frequently asked questions about recycling, which hopefully will have the answers you are looking for.

What can be recycled?

The Recycling Factory can recycle used inkjet cartridges - for a recycling list detailing the makes and models of inkjet cartridges that can be recycled, please visit www.therecyclingfactory.com/rafbf

For each inkjet cartridge recycled, a donation will be made to the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Freepost labels

The Recycling Factory provides a freepost label for small quantities of inkjet cartridges that you wish to recycle. Simply download and print the label below and attach to your own package/envelope of inkjet cartridges (max weight 1 kg). To download your freepost label, please visit The Recycling Factory at www.therecyclingfactory.com/rafbf

What happens if our ink catridges weight more than 1kg?

The Recycling Factory provides a free courier collection for boxes of approx 100 inkjet cartridges. If you have this quantity (and have checked that your cartridges are eligible for the scheme by accessing the list at www.therecyclingfactory.com/rafbf, please contact The Recycling Factory at info@trf-uk.com advising that you wish to set up a free recycling account on behalf of the charity. The Recycling Factory advises that you provide your own suitable container e.g. a sealable cardboard box.

How do the recycling boxes get collected?

Simply visit www.therecyclingfactory.com/collections to book a collection. You will be asked for your barcode number; this is usually on a label located on the side of the box. The Recycling Factory will then arrange a collection for the next working day.

Does the recycling factroy collect toners?

The charity is unable to receive a donation for laser toner cartridges – however, if you have a large number of toners you are interested in recycling, please contact The Recycling Factory to discuss further.

How do you identify how much income our station/office has generated?

Your materials are barcoded; this also acts as your account number. Once the items arrive at The Recycling Factory they are scanned and every item sent is recorded against your barcode.  This is then reported to Head Office on a monthly basis.

What percentage does the RAF Benevolent Fund receive for the items recycled?

There is no cost to the RAF Benevolent Fund for The Recycling Factory to run for The Recycling Factory's recycling scheme. The Fund receive 100% of the donation.
