Who else can help

There are a number of other charities who may also be able to offer you advice, assistance and support with living independently or with a disability.

Royal Air Force Association – Charity that can visit you in your own home and provides friendship and support to the RAF family – often referring cases on to us for further support.

The Royal British Legion / Poppy Scotland – The Royal British Legion and Poppy Scotland provide help and support to the serving and ex-Service community and their families. 

SSAFA – Charity that can visit you in your own home and provides support to the Armed Forces community – often referring those with an RAF connection to us for further support.

Older persons charities

Age UK – The UK's largest charity working with and for older people.

The Silver Line – Helpline for older people. The Silver Line is a confidential, free helpline for older people across the UK open every day and night of the year.

Action on Elder Abuse  – Action on Elder Abuse (AEA) is a specialist organisation that focuses exclusively on the issue of elder abuse. 

Dementia-related charities

Dementia UK – A charity which provides specialist dementia nurses who give practical and emotional support to families affected by dementia.

Alzheimer's Society – A charity which gives information and advice about dementia.

Mental health

Rethink Mental Illness – A charity for people with mental illness, their friends, family and carers. Practical advice, information and services across England.

Mind – Provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, and campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.

Cancer

Macmillan cancer support – For nursing services in the home.

Care in the home and residential care

Carers UK – Charity that provides advice, information and support to carers.

Care Quality Commission – The independent regulator of health and social care in England. You can search the CQC for information about the standard of care in care and nursing home.
