Support for serving RAF

We understand the pressures our serving men and women and their families can feel under. Deployment, separation and frequent moves can all take their toll. As the RAF's leading welfare charity, we provide a range of support and advice for serving RAF personnel and their dependants. Whether the need be financial, emotional, or assistance with childcare and youth support, our welfare provision is there to alleviate the pressures.

  • Financial support for the RAF

We may be able to help if you are experiencing financial difficulties. This can range from paying for unexpected expenses to help with essential living costs. Our Advice and Advocacy service also provides benefits advice and we can act on your behalf if you feel you or your family are not receiving the support you are entitled to from the Government, NHS or your Local Authority.

  • Support for families and relationships

We provide support to families and couples in a number of ways, including via our youth support programme Airplay, as well as providing funding to help with employment and welfare breaks. We also provide specialist assistance in the event of injury or death in service, and we work with Relate to provide access to relationship support services to help when going through relationship difficulties.

  • Emotional support

We recognise that Service life can add to the pressures at home and work. It's perfectly normal to feel low or anxious sometimes, but when this starts to become overwhelming and interferes with your daily life, it is important to reach out for support. That's why we're providing a number of initiatives to support RAF personnel and family members experiencing difficulties.

  • Transition

Although moving into another career after leaving the RAF may seem like a daunting experience, we can help you get the support you need to make this process much easier.

  • Support for RAF stations
We provide funding for RAF stations, including grants to improve morale and wellbeing. Grants can be used for larger projects such as building refurbishments for welfare facilities, as well as through specific schemes such as Station Families Days and parenting/play schemes.
