Sophie Napleton

After a range of customer service roles and running her own childcare business, Sophie joins the Fund as a Social Engagement Worker (SEW) at RAF Odiham.

Sophie grew up in a little-known part of Gloucestershire - The Forest Of Dean. She now lives in West Berkshire with her husband, who is currently serving in the RAF, and two children.

Since leaving College Sophie has always worked in a customer focused role, she started off working in Medical Market research which led to other customer service roles within insurance and medical equipment companies.

She then transferred into recruitment and after two years became an experienced recruitment consultant specialising in the Veterinary and Animal Health industry. During this time she met her husband, an aircraft engineer based at RAF Odiham.

Two years later they got married and Sophie became a military wife and moved to Berkshire to start a very different life to that which she had been used to in her remote little corner of the world, as she describes it.

Nearly three years ago, Sophie had a daughter and mainly due to the nature of her husband's role, being regularly deployed for long periods of time and the inflexibility of her previous job, Sophie decided that she would start her own childcare business from home which she ran very successfully.

Alongside this Sophie is an active member of the RAF community running social groups and deployment dinners at her local RAF community house and arranging events for the residents of her Serving Families Accommodation (SFA) patch.

She's found this to be exceptionally rewarding and enjoyable. When discussing her role as a Social Engagement Worker at RAF Odiham, Sophie shared that she's very much looking forward to the challenges of this new post.

Outside of work she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and children. She loves watching ballet and is also a keen horse rider.
