AGM at Amport House – 2012

Past chairs of the RAF Widows Association with a 20th anniversary cake

Jackie has worked tirelessly to raise the profile of the Association and has now handed over the ‘reigns’ to our new Chair, Jude Howcroft who was welcomed on to the Committee.

Trustees who have also finished their term of office were given thank you gifts by Jackie and a huge vote of thanks was given to all retiring members for their hard work and dedication to the Association.  3 new Trustees were also welcomed on to the Committee.

The weekend at Amport was filled with fun and laughter and as always it was a good chance to meet old friends and welcome new ones. A guest speaker entertained us on Friday evening with a presentation entitled “Messages from Music”.

On Saturday a second speaker explained to the group how our brain gives us our personality and with much hilarity, we worked out our own ‘traits’.

A bus trip to Newbury was arranged for those who wanted to have a little retail therapy and those who stayed behind were offered beauty treatments and the chance to ‘chill’.

As always, it was such a pleasure to enjoy the beautiful gardens and walks around Amport and the opportunity to take some wonderful autumnal photos.

Thank you to our invited guests who joined us on Saturday for lunch; it is always a pleasure to put a name to a face and have a chat about ongoing issues.

Our padre, Reverend Giles Legood held a poignant church service on Sunday for those who wished to attend and after a wash-up meeting we were once again served a delicious lunch by the staff at Amport House.

The provisional date for the weekend and AGM at Amport House next year is 18th – 20th October 2013, but this will be confirmed in due course.
