The Dams Raid through the Lens by Helmuth Euler

The Dams RaidThe exploits of Wing Commander Guy Gibson's 617 Squadron - which was specially created for the attack on the Ruhr's dams - are legendary.

Helmuth Euler has compiled a comprehensive archive of photographs, documents and personal accounts of the story of the dam raids.

Originally published in his book Wasserkrieg (Water War), here they have been translated into English, and additional eyewitness accounts arising from the German publication have been added.

The book includes over 400 rare photographs that document the raids from their conception, through planning and training, to their execution, including the flooding and massive destruction in the valleys below the dams and the speed at which they were subsequently reconstructed.
