By now you will have heard the sad news that Red 5, Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham, died after a tragic accident at RAF Scampton.
Sean joined the RAF in 2000 and flew Tornados with 617 'The Dambusters' Squadron. He was selected to fly with the Red Arrows in 2010.
Sir Robert Wright, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund expressed his condolences:
"We are deeply saddened to hear about the death of Flight Lieutenant Sean Cunningham who was among the most skilled pilots of the RAF. His commitment to the Red Arrows and to everything the team represents reflected the very highest standards of the Royal Air Force.
"This tragic accident underlines the risks faced by members of the RAF, both in training and on deployment. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time."
