Last Wednesday, the Fund held a special dinner to recognise the ongoing support of its Life Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Ambassadors and Friends.
The Trustees welcomed the Fund's most senior volunteers to the inaugural Friends, Ambassadors and Vice Presidents Dinner held at the RAF Club which recognised their continued commitment and dedication in supporting the RAF family.
Guests, including Lady Hillier and Marshal of the Royal Air Force The Lord Craig of Radley, were all updated on the recent increase in welfare provisions with the success of initiatives such as the Lunch Clubs at Princess Marina House and our partnership with Anxiety UK.
Air Vice-Marshal David Murray, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund and Paul Hughesdon, Director of Welfare and Policy, also discussed the increasing challenges we are facing and how we intend on combating these.
Amongst the official Ambassadors in attendance was former RAF Gunner Luke Wigman who in 2011, was seriously injured in an IED explosion in Afghanistan. We supported Luke with his transition into civilian life and since then he has gone on to be a gold medallist winner at Invictus Games.
