The importance of leaving a legacy

Remember a Charity in your Will WeekToday sees the start of Remember a Charity in your Will Week, a week that aims to encourage more people to consider leaving a gift to charity when writing a Will.

Every day, people are doing legendary things for the RAF Benevolent Fund – sky diving, mountain climbing, marathon running to name a few. Gifts in Wills, or legacies, are lesser known, but equally legendary acts in the way they support our charity.

During Remember A Charity in your Will Week (8 - 14 September) you too can become a living legend by leaving the gift of a lifetime to the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Most of our donations come from our generous supporters – almost 70% of all our voluntary donations. And last year gifts in Wills enabled us to spend over £18m supporting over 60,000 members of the RAF family, including elderly veterans, many of whom have complex and long term care needs, as well personnel injured while serving in conflicts around the world and their families.

It's a common myth that you have to be wealthy to leave a gift in your Will to help us, but nothing could be further from the truth. Every gift we receive, no matter how big or small, can go a long way in helping us to support the RAF family, whenever they need us.

Visit our Gifts in Wills page for more information on how you can leave a gift in your Will to us.
