A team of serving RAF volunteers from 230 Squadron, stationed at RAF Benson, spent a day in Sussex on 20 June, helping to clear the garden of the RAF Benevolent Fund’s new short break cottage in Rustington.
Shencot House will provide a new refuge by the sea for serving members of the RAF in need of an affordable break, and will open at the end of 2011.
Shirley Steeples, General Manager of Shencot House said:
“We are so grateful to RAF Benson and 230 Squadron for doing such a smashing job helping us clear the garden at Shencot House. They really did show the best traditions of the Royal Air Force, donating their time despite incredibly busy lives.
“Shencot House will be available to any RAF family or couple that needs to get away for a well-deserved holiday, so the boys and girls from 230 really have given something back today. Our thanks again for their enthusiasm and very hard work!”
