On Wednesday 29 March, RAF Wittering's 3 Mobile Catering Squadron supported the RAF Benevolent Fund's Great British Sunday Lunch fundraiser with an expert display of their mobile catering talents.
A field exercise at nearby Kendrew Barracks saw the squadron prepare a delicious Chinese banquet for over 150 diners in their deployed kitchen and catering tents; raising awareness of the RAF Benevolent Fund and its national food-themed fundraiser in April.
3 Mobile Catering Squadron's Flight Lieutenant Owen Newman said:
"The squadron wanted to do something to support the RAF Benevolent Fund's campaign this year so we thought we'd host our own Great British Sunday lunch in the field. The Chinese banquet went down a storm and we're delighted to have raised awareness of a charity that continually supports the RAF family."
Mark Quinn, RAF Benevolent Fund’s Regional Director, North East and Central England said:
"We're extremely grateful to RAF Wittering's 3 Mobile Catering Squadron for promoting this year's Great British Sunday Lunch campaign. To be able to serve up such a delicious feast in a mobile environment is testament to their incredible skills both in the kitchen and in the field."
The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF's leading welfare charity. Money raised from the Great British Sunday Lunch, which takes place across the UK and the world on Sunday 2 April, will help to support and improve the lives of members of the RAF family in their time of need.
