Paul Hewson, regional director for the RAF Benevolent Fund, visited the Oakhaven Hospice Trust in Lymington, Hampshire on 27 April to present a donation of £7500.
The money will help fund the specialist palliative care the hospice offers RAF patients with life limiting illnesses, as well as the support the organisation offers to the families of patients.
On the day Mr Hewson was given a tour of the facilities and a review of the hospice’s services for RAF family members.
He said: "I am really delighted to present this donation today. By working with Oakhaven Hospice Trust we can deliver the specialist palliative care which RAF family members with life-limiting conditions need, helping the best care get where it is most needed – a crucial part of our role as the RAF’s leading welfare charity."
"We are very grateful to the RAFBF for this wonderful donation," commented Oakhaven's Head of Fundraising and Communications Mike Denny.
"Helping local hospices to deliver care to RAF family members at such a difficult time for them is a superb initiative and on behalf of the local RAF families and Oakhaven we extend our sincere thanks for this marvellous support."
