Response to the announcement by George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, this evening ahead of the Autumn Statement that £2.5m of LIBOR will support welfare of soldiers, sailors and airmen.
Air Marshal Chris Nickols, Controller at the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund said:
"We are delighted to have received a grant of £500,000 from the Chancellor this afternoon. It is worthy recognition of the vital work that the RAF Benevolent Fund undertakes in looking after all members of the RAF Family. We have been working hard to support our people for over 95 years.
"Now, as the RAF's leading welfare charity, we provide a range of services for serving and former RAF personnel, their partners, and dependent children. In the last year alone, we spent more than £18 million helping over 60,000 members of the RAF family to live a more fulfilling life.
"This additional LIBOR funding will allow us to continue this work and help us to adapt our services to meet the changing needs of RAF families."
