A volunteer fundraising group based at RAF Lossiemouth is getting involved in our RAF96 celebrations by hosting a range of fundraising activities to support our work. In a guest blog, Karen Cox, a member of Team RAFBF Lossiemouth, tells us more.
We're really looking forward to getting involved in RAF96 and throughout April we'll be holding a gate collection at RAF Lossiemouth and Elgin City Football Club. We are also planning to host a Zumba/children's party, as well as a 'Temple Chef' night, which will combine an evening of cooking and pampering.
During the schools' Easter break, local shops will be helping us out with our 'Animal Hunt', where we'll put a plastic animal in various shop windows and the children have to work out the secret word by identifying the animals they find.
Our Mums & Tots group and RAF Lossiemouth childcare centre will be holding RAF96 parties and we hope to have a bespoke ice cream made by a local shop in celebration of the 96th birthday of the Royal Air Force.
As well as this our station chaplaincy centre has very kindly agreed to hold a collection during their services at the end of March and we're also hoping to have a Race Night in the Sgt and WO's Mess.
We would like to raise at least £1,000 for RAF96 but we'd be happy to raise £500 as we know every pound is valued.
We'd encourage everyone to get involved in RAF96. It can be as straight forward as holding a party in your home to taking part in a sporting challenge.
It is what you make it and with fundraising being so important to the RAF Benevolent Fund, anything you do to help celebrate the Royal Air Force's 96th birthday will make a difference to someone's life.
