Team work and cakes help Airplay youngsters raise money for their club activities at a tea party fundraiser. Members Bella, Daisy-mae, Isla and Siobhan tell us how the group organised the event and raked in £170!

At one of our usual Airplay sessions our youth workers asked us if we would be interested in organising and hosting a fund-raising event in order to raise money for our youth club.

After discussing our ideas, we were excited to be given this opportunity to have the responsibility to host something of our own. We decided to run a tea party to raise money for our Airplay group.

We all worked together to create a fun and enjoyable time for everyone in our community who attended.

Once we had discussed all our ideas, we decided on having a tea party open to the local community. As the leaders of the fundraiser we were thrilled to prepare and plan this unique event.

With all our ideas put together we planned for all the activities that we would include.

The activities we included were:

  • Cake sale (all homemade by us)
  • Face painting
  • Glitter tattoos
  • A range of games (such as: tin can alley)
  • Guess how many sweets are in the jar
  • Guess the teddy's name
  • Hair salon
  • Sweet sale
  • Coffee and tea available to all adults

We all gathered after school to prepare for the event to make it as good as possible for everyone who attended. We started by setting up tables, stalls, decorations and food.

We were extremely excited when the guest started turning up. They visited lots of stalls, the most popular being the cake stall which we weren’t surprised about because who doesn't like cake?!

Overall everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we all raised a whopping £170! We were all proud of ourselves as we took care of everything and worked together to make an amazing time for everyone!
