To commemorate 50 years of the VC-10 flying, Rod Marshall, one of our supporters decided to hold a raffle to support the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Rod joined forces with Sergeant Ian Stuart, and set up the raffle to raise much needed funds for the RAF family.
The prizes were based on the journeys of the VC-10 and included some amazing holidays.
The team set about selling the raffle tickets throughout the summer to friends, family, colleagues and members of the public. The draw took place on Sunday 2 September at Bournemouth International Air show and the lucky winners were notified soon after.
The winners were:
- First prize – flights and ten days accommodation in Barbados, ticket number 03772 - P. Dawson, Oxfordshire.
- Second prize – flights and five days accommodation in Dubai, ticket number 03460 - A. Deas, Lincolnshire.
- Third prize – flights and three days accommodation in Rome, ticket number 04645 - A. O'Hora, Oxfordshire.
The total raised was an outstanding £5234.74, which was presented to the RAF Benevolent Fund at Brize Norton. We are hugely grateful for the support from Wotton Travel Limited, Serco, BAE Systems, Cycle Surgery, Snow and Rock, Runners Need and all of the people who sold and purchased tickets to support this raffle.
