RAF Waddington Station Commander Group Captain Chris Jones dropped by the RAF Benevolent Fund marquee on Sunday 3 July to present a donation of £17,500.
The money was raised at the previous year's Waddington International Air show and will go towards the charity’s work supporting serving and former RAF personnel. Paul Hughesdon, Director of Welfare and Policy for the RAF Benevolent Fund, was on hand to accept the cheque.
Paul said: "On behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund I offer my sincere thanks for this splendid donation. The money raised is a reflection of the excellent support that we enjoy from Royal Air Force personnel and the general public, without which we simply could not provide the financial, practical and emotional support we do.
"You only need to look around at Waddington to see where the money goes – as part of our £24 million national Airplay programme we constructed the new childcare centre on the station, built a new play park and are providing trained youth workers, all in an effort to take some of the strain off serving families.
"Our thanks again to everyone involved in the air show for this magnificent donation."
