As the nation prepares to celebrate with Her Majesty The Queen on her 90th birthday, the RAF Benevolent Fund celebrates our very special royal patron.
The Fund is proud to call HM The Queen our patron and follows in her tradition of unstinting and dedicated service to the country having looked after the welfare of serving and retired RAF personnel and their loved ones for almost a century.
Part of that mission includes the Fund's role as official guardian of the Bomber Command Memorial. The Queen unveiled the Memorial in London's Green Park in 2012, dedicated to the memory of the 55,573 fallen heroes of Bomber Command who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War.
Beneficiaries and supporters of the RAF Benevolent Fund will join The Queen as she hosts her Patron's Lunch in London on Sunday. Jacqui Thompson, whose husband Gary was killed while serving with the RAF in Afghanistan, will join Bomber Command veteran Dave Fellowes in celebrating The Queen's milestone birthday along with long-standing donors without whose support the Fund would not be able to continue the work that we do.
Celebrations will also take place at Airplay groups around the country as the youth groups, supported by the Fund, host parties for young people on RAF stations to mark this special occasion. Youngsters will don party crowns and hang out the bunting to join with the nation in saying, "Happy birthday, Your Majesty".
