The new state pension

Please note that if your State Retirement is already in payment, or will be in payment before 6 April 2016 you will not be affected by the New Pension Legislation.

The new state retirement pension is being introduced on 6 April 2016.

The details of the new scheme are being worked on and more information will be available as the implementation date approaches. If you reach pensionable age after 6 April 2016 we understand that in April of that year you will receive a statement about your NI record and qualifying years.

You will also be informed about how you may make up a shortfall in contributions or make extra contributions towards a new State Pension.

You can find more information on the website: www.gov.uk/new-state-pension.

As you approach State Retirement Pension age get in touch with the Pension Service and ask for a Pension Forecast.  You can ask for one each year until you retire. Website address: www.gov.uk/contact-pension-service.
