Donating by SMS (text message) is a quick and easy way to support the RAF Benevolent Fund and RAF family in need. Here are some important terms and conditions:
Cost of donating by text and what the RAF Benevolent Fund receives
Your text will be charged the donation amount plus a standard text message rate specified by your network provider. The charge will show on your bill or deducted from your pay as you go credit.
100% of your donation will be received by the RAF Benevolent Fund.
There is no limit on the number of times you may make a donation via text, but there is a daily limit of £30 on text donations. You will not be able to donate more by text from the same number on the same day, but you may still incur your standard network message charge if you try.
How will my donation be used?
The RAF Benevolent Fund receives no government funding, so your donation will help us provide a variety of services to members of the RAF family who are going through a difficult time.
Can I donate by text?
You must be 16 years old or over to send a text donation and please obtain permission from the bill payer before sending a text donation to the RAF Benevolent Fund.
Where can I send text donations from?
You can only send a text donation from a UK mobile and cannot donate using this service from a Channel Island, Isle of Man or other non-UK mobile. If you donate using this service from a UK mobile outside England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you may incur additional network charges.
Your text donation may be eligible for Gift Aid. In order for us to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on your gifts and make them worth 25% more – at no extra to cost to you – please get in touch with us:
- Telephone: 020 7580 8343 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm)
- Email: firstname.lastname@example.org (please include your name, full address and mobile number in the email)
- Or you can make your Gift Aid declaration online.

Sending your pin badge
If you have sent in a text donation in response to our TV advertisement, we would like to send you a pin badge as a thank you for your support to the RAF family.
You will receive a follow-up telephone call from 0203 455 2922 to arrange delivery of your pin badge, and will also be asked whether you can Gift Aid your donation to make it go that little further, and to ask whether you might be able to continue your support with a regular gift to help more RAF veterans and their families.
If you would like to opt out of future communications from the RAF Benevolent Fund, please text DECLINE to 70020 as per the instructions on your thank you text from RAFBF. You will receive a final text to confirm that we will not send any updates about our work. If you would still like to receive your pin badge, please follow the hyperlink in the text.
Please allow 5-7 working days for your pin badge to arrive. We hope you wear it with pride.
