Support lonely elderly veterans this winter

Respite at Home worker and veteran

Desperate loneliness among elderly veterans is a real problem. Over 100,000 RAF veterans are living out their last years isolated and alone, with nothing but memories for company. We're working hard to tackle this issue with vital services like Respite at Home.

What is Respite at Home?

Respite at Home provides the companionship and expertise of a qualified support assistant in a veteran's home. This special new service, launched in late 2016, is designed for people who are less mobile and can't get to our drop-in lunch clubs.

How does it help?

By visiting veterans regularly, chatting, eating together and enabling them to do the things they love, we're helping these amazing men and women keep their independence and dignity.

Respite at Home also gives carers – often partners or adult children – a much-needed break, as well as peace of mind.

Respite at Home is already proving a success, but there are many more elderly veterans who need support like this. Your donation can help let veterans know we haven't forgotten them, or the sacrifices they made in the name of our freedom and protection.

Your donation will help bring meals, mobility and friendship into veterans’ lives over the coming year.

£8 will help give a veteran a hot meal and company with friends at one of our lunch clubs

£25 pays for a Respite at Home visit with a qualified care worker providing lunch, activities and companionship for a lonely veteran

£50 will help pay for a mobility scooter, meaning an elderly veteran can continue to live independently
