Mobility equipment

If you are having difficulty with getting out and about, or moving around your home we may be able to assist through our mobility scheme.

Mobility scooters and wheelchairs

We can consider assisting with mobility scooters, electric wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs.

If we are able to assist we will organise an Occupational Therapists assessment to advise on the most suitable scooter or wheelchair.

If we are able to provide a scooter or wheelchair this can be provided from our stock of Electrically Powered Vehicles (EPV) and would be loaned to you for as long as it is required.

We will fund insurance for the EPV and organise registration for tax, if required.

If you are in receipt of the higher rate of the mobility component Disability Living Allowance, the enhanced rate of the mobility component of Personal Independence Payments, or the ar Pensioners' Mobility Supplement you may be able to obtain an EPV through the Motability scheme. This option should be explored before approaching the RAF Benevolent Fund. Details of this can be found on the Motability website.

If you require assistance with an electric wheelchair you may be able to receive assistance through the NHS wheelchair service. This option should be explored before approaching the RAF Benevolent Fund. Details of your local wheelchair service can be found on the NHS website.

If you are interested in purchasing mobility equipment but do not need financial help with this, Midshires Powerchairs, who are our provider,  may still be able to offer special discounted rates as agreed with us, and in most instances are able to offer a free, no obligation assessment and trial in your own home.

If you would like more information on their products, you can contact them directly on 01889 582 332 or email and advise them of your RAF connection.
