On 12 April 2026, Sergeant Jaime Green will be running the City of Lincoln 10K with a wheelie bin on his back, to raise money for the Fund.

Sergeant Jaime Green, 38, is a Network Support Manager within Cyberspace based at RAF Waddington. He said: “I wanted to set myself a meaningful challenge – one that reflects both my time in uniform and my desire to continue pushing myself physically and mentally.

“I’m in my final year of serving after 22 years and know how much support the RAF Benevolent Fund provides, not only to those serving but also veterans, which means a lot to me and is something I think everyone needs.”

Jaime added: “My children were helped by the Fund with activities in the community when we lived at RAF Scampton. They funded a play park, and I’ve also seen friends supported through really tough times. I’m proud of what the Fund has done to support our community.”

Jaime will be running alongside his brother and a friend for the 10K run, and will have a bucket collection for the Fund.

Jaime said: “In 2017, I made a personal commitment to make a positive impact within my community and the RAF, and since then I have raised over £11,000 with a variety of sporting events and slightly unconventional fundraising challenges.

“I was struggling with fulfilment and my mental health, and I believe this is my outlet to be able to push my body to its limits.”

Jaime continued: “It has been funny seeing my friends and family’s reaction to my challenge and will be even funnier on the day whilst I’m running with a massive bin on my back. The bin weighs 16KG, is an awkward shape, and acts like a sail when running into the wind. I’m hoping people see how challenging it is and support my fundraiser!”
