Telephone Friendship Groups volunteer facilitator

Do you want to help members of the RAF Family who are lonely or isolated make new friends? If so, become a Telephone Friendship Group volunteer facilitator? Complete our short form below to register your interest.

As a volunteer facilitator you would be supporting a group of up to six individuals to chat and make connections over the phone on a weekly basis.

The Telephone Friendship Groups are run in partnership with Age UK who will provide training for the role. You would need to be able to commit one hour of your time a week for a minimum period of a year. If you would like to volunteer, please complete the contact form below and someone from Age UK will be in touch with you regarding the next steps of your volunteer journey.

Please read the role profile for further information.

The groups are enjoyable and friendly and really make a difference to those who are a member. Our volunteers also get just as much out of them. This is what our volunteers have to say about them:

Testimonials from existing volunteers

"During the time I have been doing this it is now just like speaking to old mates and I get just as much out of it as the group themselves. A small group of philosophers, music minded and tech savvy gents who all have some great stories and memories. Never a dull moment."
"We meet every week for an hour when we share our stories of the RAF; what we've been up to that week, the news of the day or just have a good old chin wag... What is certain is that we will always have a right good laugh and along the way we have become firm mates. Our time together is often far too short – but there is always next week and a chance to have another chat and a brew."
