A group of RAF personnel took part in the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday 15 October, raising money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

Doug McCorkindale and Jimmy Lockhart, based at RAF Honington, took part in the 26.2 mile run alongside Miles Whitehead and Scott Jones, after meeting each other during training ten years ago. The four completed the Junior Regiment Officers' Course in 2015 to become Officers in the RAF Regiment and three of them are still serving.

Doug, 38, is the OC of the RAF Regiment's Phase 2 Gunner Training at RAF Honington, having joined the RAF in 2013. Being the RAF Benevolent Fund representative at RAF Honington, Doug has seen first-hand the work the Fund has done to support members of the RAF Family.

He said: "We’ve all seen the fantastic work the RAF Benevolent Fund does during our careers and by running this marathon, we hope to raise a small contribution to the charity while increasing awareness about the important work they do in helping serving personnel, veterans and their families."

He added "The finish line was my favourite part of the event, and having a cold beer and watching the rugby afterwards! It was a great feeling reaching the end of the marathon and celebrating our achievement together."
