A Call to Gather film: Stories of support for the RAF Family

As part of our ongoing partnership with The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, we've created a new film featuring four of our Ambassadors who share their experiences of the support they received from the Fund.
From adapting to life after a life-changing spinal injury, to supporting a child with complex disabilities, and overcoming challenges with mental health after service, each story highlights the importance of having somewhere to turn when life becomes difficult.
Their stories show the lasting impact that support from partners, supporters and fundraisers, including The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, helps make possible across Scotland and the wider UK.
Watch the full film below.
Joanna
After suffering a spinal injury during a training exercise, Joanna faced the challenge of rebuilding her life and independence. In her story, she reflects on overcoming adversity and adapting to a very different future.
John
John shares his family's experience of caring for his son Lewis, who has complex disabilities, and the difference the right support made in helping Lewis gain greater independence and freedom.
Andrew
Having struggled for years with severe OCD after leaving the RAF, Andrew talks about reaching out for help and the support that helped him and his family find hope again.
Matt
Matt's story explores the impact of PTSD, recovery and resilience, and how support helped him navigate some of the most challenging periods of his life.
These stories are just a snapshot of the many members of the RAF Family supported by the Fund every year. We'd like to thank The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and all our supporters for helping make that support possible.
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo's A Call to Gather runs from 7-29 August 2026. Tickets can be purchased here.
