The dedication to the RAF that members of the Commonwealth have shown throughout history should never be understated or forgotten. Your support makes sure it never will be.
It is believed there are 14,000 veterans and widows of former RAF personnel from Commonwealth, or former Commonwealth, countries who served in the British Armed Forces prior to their countries gaining independence.
These members of the RAF Family are now in their late 80s and 90s and, without your support, many of them would be living without access to financial assistance, pensions or basic social care.
Here at the Fund, we strongly believe that no member of the RAF Family should suffer hardship after their service, no matter how long ago they served or how far away they are.
That’s why, thanks to your help, we’ve supported RAF veterans across the Commonwealth, with grants to ensure they can live with the dignity they deserve. The most crucial thing the grants cover is two nutritious meals a day, ensuring our brave veterans overseas never go hungry.
Your support is also there for our RAF Family overseas when disasters happen, like Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
In the aftermath of the storm, a welfare vehicle that is essential for looking after the welfare of veterans and widows, became unserviceable. Through our partnerships in the region, your donations helped the Jamaican Legion to fund a brand-new vehicle. This vehicle meant that crucial welfare staff are able to travel to home visits, needs assessments, and emergency interventions.
Our work in Jamaica reinforces our collective commitment to making sure members of the RAF Family, across the world, never have to face hardship alone. It’s only possible because of you – thank you.
