On Tuesday 8 April, the RAF Benevolent Fund attended a luncheon at St. James’s Palace held by its President, His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent.
The lunch provided an opportunity to thank supporters of the Fund and introduce other guests to our work, encouraging their support and commitment to help us reach even more members of the RAF Family.
Guests included Air Vice-Marshal Simon Edwards, the RAF’s Director People, who spoke about the current challenges facing the RAF and the how the Fund is there to support members of the RAF Family.
Air Vice-Marshal Chris Elliot, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund, shared with guests how the Fund has been by the RAF Family’s side for the last 106 years. Chris highlighted how the 80th anniversaries of VE Day and VJ Day, and the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain this year are an opportunity to reflect on the importance of remembering the past, while also looking ahead to the ongoing support that will be needed in the future.
Air Vice-Marshal Chris Elliot, Controller of the Fund said: "We are deeply grateful to our President, His Royal Highness The Duke of Kent, for the chance to host this event in the beautiful setting of St. James’s Palace. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with friends, old and new, while sharing an update on the Fund’s work and exploring the many ways we can collaborate moving forward.”
