Your support in Akrotiri meant everything to Amileigh and her family

During the drone attack in March, Amileigh and her family found themselves in an uncertain situation far from home. Your support meant we could be there for the family, and it meant everything.
You may remember Amileigh, her husband Ash and their young boys. They were based in RAF Leeming in 2020, when we provided a grant to the station for polytunnels, raised beds and compost to create allotments.
In 2025, Corporal Ash, whose role is Junior Non-Commissioned Officer C4i, was posted to Akrotiri, and his family moved with him. Within a matter of months, they were thrust into a conflict situation.
It was a Sunday evening, and the family went off to bed as usual. But, just a few hours later, they found themselves sheltering under a table for cover. What followed were sirens and real worry for the family. Their new baby was only a few months old. All they could do was wait.
Eventually, at 6am, they were told they were being dispersed from camp and moved to a hotel. Fortunately, Ash was on leave, so they were able to stay together as a family.
When the time came for Ash to return to work, we were there to work with the RAF to support Amileigh and the family, ensuring all their needs were met. The last thing Amileigh and Ash needed was an additional financial burden.
They could have felt as though there was nowhere to turn, but thanks to your support, we were able to ease that strain. This allowed Ash to focus on serving his country and for Amileigh to care for their boys. Your support provided them stability and reassurance when they needed it most.
