On 11 June 2023, ex-RAF serviceman will be taking on the Woodhall Spa 10k run to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

David Moulds, 58, will be running the 10k event wearing a costume replica of 'Just Jane', the Lancaster bomber plane. David is currently on the team at East Kirby Aviation Heritage Centre who are hoping to restore the Lancaster plane. This ongoing 10-year project will restore only the third airworthy Lancaster plane in the world.

David has chosen to support the RAF Benevolent Fund because of his own background in the RAF, as well as his parents lifelong support of the armed forces, being members of the Royal British Legion.

Speaking of the upcoming fundraiser David said: "I am already getting a lot of interest and people are coming to support me on the day, so I am really looking forward to it. I am hoping the publicity will raise more awareness of the incredible work of the Fund.

"I have run ten marathons previously, of which nine were in fancy dress. My most recent was a four-foot poppy of which I raised a lot of money for the poppy appeal. Running 10k in a plane costume shouldn't be too much of an issue, however, my costumes only get tested on the day because it's a bit awkward to run the streets in them."

David added: "This will be a test run for the costume as I have a place in the Great North Run in September so if it survives 10k I should be okay!"
