A team of personnel from RAF Marham completed a 3,200km virtual challenge across three days to raise money for the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The dedicated team from 15 Squadron RAF Regiment, currently stationed at RAF Akrotiri, Cyprus, collectively covered the distance of 3,200km – the equivalent journey from RAF Marham, Norfolk, to RAF Akrotiri.
The challenge was achieved over three days between 23-25 May by eleven members of the squadron, each pushing their limits by covering up to 355km through a combination of running, swimming, cycling, and gym workouts.
Corporal James Townsend of 15 Squadron, who came up with idea, said: “I wanted to find a physical challenge that could get my whole section involved. After playing with a few ideas, this came to mind. I pitched it to the section, and everyone was keen to take part.”
He added: “We chose to support the great work that the Fund does to support the RAF Family. I have had friends who are still serving, and who have now left the military, that have used the Fund’s services to help them through hard times.
“Within our job roles we always strive to push ourselves. I felt this challenge would enable every member of the section to step outside their comfort zone while raising money for a great cause.”
The team raised over £770 for the Fund. You can donate to support their fundraiser on JustGiving.
