On 6-7 September 2024, we partnered with South Ayrshire Council for the second year at the highly anticipated International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight.

Hundreds of thousands of people attended the event on Ayr’s Low Green to watch a packed schedule of aircraft displays along Ayr seafront, including the RAF Typhoon, and the iconic Lancaster bomber for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Representatives from the Fund were available across the weekend at stalls in the festival village to share information about the charity’s vital work to support the RAF Family.

The military village had personnel from the tri-services on hand to share a wealth of information about life in the Forces.

There was plenty of fun for all the family with funfair rides, activities including laser tag and an abseiling wall, a live pipe band and a range of interesting exhibitions.

The RAF Falcons parachute display team landed in the middle of the green after falling from 7,000 feet – one team member had a Fund bear tucked into his flying suit for the jump!

Air Vice-Marshal Chris Elliot, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund said: “It was incredible to return to The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight this year, providing another fantastic opportunity for us to connect with many members of the local community over the course of the weekend.

“The turnout was outstanding once again, and we were truly humbled by the immense interest in our mission to support the RAF Family. We are grateful and honoured to have been chosen as the charity partner with South Ayrshire Council for the second year, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the months and years ahead."
