The RAF Benevolent Fund has announced a new sponsorship partnership with UK Veterans Gaming (UVG), a UK-based online gaming and e-sports community dedicated to supporting veterans through connection, wellbeing, and peer support.
The sponsorship reflects the RAF Benevolent Fund’s ongoing commitment to exploring modern, innovative ways to improve the lives of veterans and their families. By supporting UVG, the Fund is backing a platform that uses gaming as a positive social tool – helping veterans stay connected, combat isolation, and build supportive networks in a familiar and welcoming environment.
UVG provides a safe, always online, inclusive space via it's Discord where veterans can come together through gaming, esports events, and online community activity. For many veterans, especially those transitioning to civilian life or experiencing social isolation, gaming offers a valuable way to reconnect, communicate, and maintain camaraderie beyond traditional support settings.
Maria Lyle, Associate Director of Operations at the RAF Benevolent Fund, said: "We, at the RAF Benevolent Fund, are committed to ensuring anyone who has served in the RAF can access support in ways that are relevant and effective. UK Veterans Gaming offers a positive, inclusive online community that enables veterans to maintain connections, reduce social isolation, and support their wellbeing through shared interests and peer engagement.
"This partnership reflects our commitment to using innovative approaches to enhance the lives of all members of RAF Family in a modern and meaningful way."
UK Veterans Gaming welcomed the sponsorship as a significant step forward for the organisation and its community.
Etienne Gray, Co-Founder for UK Veterans Gaming, said: "This sponsorship from the RAF Benevolent Fund is a huge vote of confidence in what we’re building. Our mission has always been to support veterans by creating a positive, inclusive space through gaming. Having the backing of such a respected charity allows us to expand our reach and deepen the support we provide to our community."
