On Saturday 7 June, RAF Lossiemouth hosted their Families Day, known as ‘LossieFest’, supported by the RAF Benevolent Fund.
The annual RAF Station Families' Days are supported by the Fund, to bring serving personnel and their families and friends together at RAF stations across the country.
The Fund contributes a series of grants to RAF bases to help facilitate the events each year. Events such as Families' Days provides an opportunity for single serving personnel and those with families to come together and socialise, increasing cohesion, improving morale and mental health, and reducing isolation.
RAF Lossiemouth’s LossieFest was a sold-out success and featured air displays from the Red Arrows and the Typhoon. There was a selection of static aircraft displays including a Merlin helicopter, Hawk T2 and Phenom 100, alongside Lossiemouth’s own Typhoon and P-8 Poseidon.
There was a variety of stalls, a Fund charity stand, as well as a funfair and plenty of refreshment stands.
The event concluded with a concert featuring performances from Ben Walker and Callum Beattie.
Group Captain Sarah Brewin, Station Commander at RAF Lossiemouth said: “The purpose of LossieFest is to put on a fun day for all those who make up Team Lossie, including our friends and families, to recognise their hard work and commitment over the year, which enables us to deliver on Operations 24 hours a day.
“I am delighted to say that we achieved that and more on the day! The feedback we received has been universally positive, and it was an absolute pleasure seeing so many of our people having such a great time.”
