  • All change at the RAF Benevolent Fund

    Air Marshal Sir Robert Wright, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), the RAF’s leading welfare charity, will retire in July this year. Sir Robert is succeeded by Air Marshal Chris Nickols, until recently Chief of Defence Intelligence at the Ministry of Defence.

  • Award for tireless support

    Every year the RAF Benevolent Fund makes an award to recognise an outstanding supporter. This year the RAFBF Poignard was awarded to Damian Pinel from RAF Community Support.

  • RAF Benevolent Fund visits Star and Garter

    Paul Hughesdon, Director of Welfare and Policy for the RAF Benevolent Fund, visited the Royal Star and Garter Home – Solihull on 26 January 2012 to inspect the new 'Roundel Wing', built with a £1.3 million donation from the RAF Benevolent Fund.

  • Thales sponsors forces passenger information system

    Thales UK and the single service charities have held a ceremony at RAF Brize Norton to launch a new passenger information system. The system is being sponsored by Thales UK and supported by the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC).

  • New holiday home for RAF families

    A new home from home for RAF families was opened in Rustington, West Sussex on 8 December. Shencot House has been refurbished by the RAF Benevolent Fund, the RAF's leading welfare charity, as a place for serving RAF families in need of an affordable break.

    Families at RAF High Wycombe enjoyed a range of special activities on 18 November to celebrate the opening of new Airplay Parks - state-of-the-art play areas for children and young people living on or around the station.

  • Battle of Britain campaign wins award

    Last year, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the RAF Benevolent Fund ran an online campaign called the 1940 Chronicle. We're really pleased to let you know that the 1940 Chronicle has won an award – the PR Week award for best in digital and social media.
