On 23 July 2025, RAF Henlow held its annual Families Day with support from the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The event this year at RAF Henlow was renamed the ‘Friends and Family Day’ to welcome whole force, civil servants, industry partners and friends of the station to attend.

The day offered an array of activities and family entertainment including inflatable Zorbs and skittles, a dog show, a musical performance from the Band of the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, tug of war and more. There was a variety of stalls including face painting, refreshments and the Fund’s merchandise stand.

The Fund contributes a series of grants to RAF bases to help facilitate the events each year. Events such as Families Days provides an opportunity for single serving personnel and those with families to come together and socialise, increasing cohesion, improving morale and mental health, and reducing isolation.

Corporal Thompson, who attended the event, said: “It was a fun day, enjoyed by four generations of my family, young and old. My nieces even had a race with each other on the space hoppers, and we all got our faces painted.”

Another attendee, AS1 Bain, said: “I definitely felt great care was taken to make sure everyone was involved this year. It was a great day.”

Wing Commander Chris Brooke, Station Commander at RAF Henlow, said: "The event was fully inclusive and we welcomed all to join the fun. It is no small endeavour to arrange an event of this scale, and I offer my sincere thanks to all who have contributed their time and energy, including the RAF Benevolent Fund, without whom this event would not have been possible."
