Support for RAF Air Cadets

We have enhanced our package of support to the RAF Air Cadets, including members of the Air Training Corps and Combined Cadet Force (RAF).

Air Cadets

For these members of the RAF Family, applications are considered on a case-by-case basis for emotional wellbeing, counselling and bereavement support. Financial support is also given if a member is killed, on or off duty. This also extends to staff cadets and uniformed volunteers.

Financial support

The Fund currently provides financial grants in the case of a cadet sadly dying on duty, taking into account the circumstances and any insurance in place. This offer has now been extended to provide financial support to cover circumstances where a cadet sadly dies off duty; this would be limited and timely support but aims to be helpful at this difficult time.

Mental wellbeing

24-hour emotional wellbeing support for cadets over the age of 18 years, staff cadets and uniformed volunteers

We offer access to the 24-hour emotional support helpline where the above can access a trained counsellor any time of the day or night. The service can be accessed by those over aged 18 years or over by calling 08081 757365. This service is delivered for the RAF Benevolent Fund by PAM Wellbeing

Counselling services for cadets, staff cadets and uniformed volunteers

We are making our specialist listening and counselling service available to the RAF Air Cadets who need it the most. The service which is available to all those in the RAF Community aged five and above, will now be available at the request of the RAF Air Cadet safeguarding team.

Support to the bereaved

Our specialist bereavement support that is part of the Listening and Counselling Service, will be made available to the parents and school age siblings of a cadet who dies on or off duty. We also offer the same service to a cadet who loses an immediate family member (mother, father, sibling).
