On Sunday 10 September, the Central Band of the Royal Air Force will perform a special concert at the Alban Arena in St. Albans to support the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The concert, led by Principal Director of Music Royal Air Force Wing Commander Piers Morrell (OBE MVO), offers attendees a unique and rare opportunity to hear the world-renowned military band in action.

Compered by Alan Dedicoat, the voice of Strictly Come Dancing and the National Lottery, the Central Band of the RAF is set to perform a wide repertoire, demonstrating the amazing talent of those who serve. The band played a major part during the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla and the concert that followed at Windsor Castle; they have recently returned from participating in this year’s Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Peter Battershill, Event Organiser for the concert, said: "This is a rare opportunity to hear one of our nation’s finest Military Band's and in doing so, raising as much money as possible for the RAF Benevolent Fund. It is a huge honour for me to have this opportunity to stage such a concert and for those attending you are in for a musical treat!”

Neil Tomlin, Head of Engagement at the Fund, said: "We are delighted to be working with the local organisers in St. Albans, and the outstanding musicians of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force to highlight the welfare services provided by the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. Whether for practical, emotional or financial support, the RAF Benevolent Fund is there to support all of the RAF Family, past and present, whenever and wherever they need us."

Neil continued: "Events such as this wonderful concert help us to reach-out to those who may not be aware of our services, or their eligibility to access them, as well as raising vital funds to help support this work."

The Band plays by permission of the Air Force Board of the Defence Council. All profits from the concert will go towards the Fund to support the RAF Family.
