The RAF Benevolent Fund pays tribute to all those who serve and have served this Remembrance Day.

At this special time of the year, on Remembrance Day, we come together to honour and remember those that have died in world wars and other conflicts.  It is also an opportunity for us to remember the service and sacrifices of those in our Armed Forces today and their families, who continue to serve to protect our freedoms hard-won by previous generations.

For those who have served in operations in the Middle East, Afghanistan and other operations, the effects of their duty often does not end when they get home, for them or their families. For some, the physical and mental impact of their service remains with them for the rest of their lives.

The Fund is there for the RAF Family, providing practical, financial and emotional support to RAF personnel, veterans and their partners and dependents.

Air Vice-Marshal Chris Elliot, Controller of the RAF Benevolent Fund, said: "Remembrance is, above all, about people. The stoicism and resolve that epitomises the wartime generation has inspired countless people to join the Armed Forces and swear their oath of allegiance to the monarch and our country. This generation included Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, of course, who was our Patron. It is right to remember and celebrate their service this year as any other.

"The RAF Benevolent Fund is committed to those who have served in the RAF in more recent conflicts and who may need our support, as well as those who are beginning their journey in the Royal Air Force, taking up the mantle and learning from the lessons and sacrifices of those who have gone before us."
