Falkirk Wheel Paddleboard

Date: 27 June 2026
Address: Falkirk Wheel, Lime Rd, Falkirk, FK1 4RS

We’re excited to launch the Falkirk Wheel Paddleboard Challenge, a very special experience at one of Scotland’s most iconic landmarks. This is not a standard public activity, and opportunities to paddle through the Falkirk Wheel are extremely limited, making this a truly memorable way to support the RAF Family.

Starting from 5pm, participants will take part in an incredible 30-minute paddleboard experience. You’ll paddle up to the base of the Falkirk Wheel before loading your paddleboard into the rotating gondola and being lifted 35 metres into the air, connecting with the Union Canal and bypassing 11 historic locks.

After your rotation, you’ll have the chance to take photos, enjoy the surroundings and purchase refreshments while soaking up the atmosphere.

Perfect for individuals, groups of friends or corporate team-building activities, this is a rare opportunity to take part in a challenge event like no other, while helping to support serving personnel, veterans and their families.

Registration fee: 35
Minimum fundraising target: £150

We encourage registering early to avoid disappointment.

Register yourself and your group

In return for your support you will receive:

  • An RAF Benevolent Fund event t-shirt.
  • A personalised thank you after your challenge.

Why your miles matter

Our support to the RAF Family in 2024:

  • More than 64,000 people benefitted from our work.
  • 91% of beneficiaries said we improved their overall quality of life.
  • Nearly £2 million in unclaimed benefits was uncovered for 400 households.
  • We spent £15.1m to support members of the RAF Family offering timely, compassionate and tailored help.

What your fundraising could achieve

  • £50 could help provide emergency essentials for a veteran facing financial hardship.
  • £150 could contribute towards specialist equipment or home adaptations that improve independence and quality of life.
  • £300 could help fund wellbeing and counselling support for an RAF family member struggling with their mental health.

Already want to support us another way?

Even if you can’t take part on the water, you can still support the RAF Family by donating or sharing the event with friends, family and colleagues.
